Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, sequel to Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, takes place in 2018, four years after the events of Guns of the Patriots. The protagonist, Raiden is a cyborg who works for Maverick PMC companies in order to raise money for his family. Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance completely changes the usual gameplay of the series, known as "Tactical Espionage Action" to something called "Lightning Bolt Action", much more focused on more purely arcade action.
